Prospective Undergraduate Students

Bloomfield StudentThe Department of Health and Kinesiology offers Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees in Health, Kinesiology, and Sport Management. Several specializations are offered for students those who are interested in a career in either Health or Kinesiology.

The courses in health and kinesiology offer opportunities to obtain professional preparation for careers as health educators and physical education teachers in public and private schools, coaches, sport administrators, sport promoters, exercise technologists, fitness instructors and directors, recreational leaders, outdoor leadership educators, camp leaders and community health educators.

The Department of Health and Kinesiology's B.S. degree in Health has an option that leads to teacher certification (School Health) and an option that is non-teaching (Community Health). The B.S. degree in Kinesiology has two options that lead to teacher certification in Physical Education (Pre K-8 and Grades 7-12) and three options that are non-teaching (Exercise Science [3 options], Sport Management and Outdoor Leadership). All students are assigned to an advisor in accordance with their career choice. Students are encouraged to declare career intentions early so appropriate course work may be planned.

Because the Department values activities that enhance educational experiences, students are required to participate in extracurricular activities. Suggested activities include community volunteer hours, membership in professional organizations, such as Aggie Alliance, Sport Management Society, Aggie Applied Exercise Physiology and Eta Sigma Gamma, as well as other related state and national organizations.
