CPR Course Overview
American Heart Association
The HeartCode BLS course teaches CPR skills for helping victims of all ages (including doing ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-mask device, and oxygen); use of an automated external defibrillator (AED); and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO).
Healthcare providers, such as physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, physician's assistants, residents or fellows, or medical or nursing students in training, aides, medical or nursing assistants, police officers, and other allied health personnel.
Required Student Materials
Each student must successfully complete "HeartCode BLS Online Part 1" training for CPR certification. This training is found on the American Heart Association webpage. The cost is $28.50 and the online textbook is also included with this program.
American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons- First Aid
The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons First Aid course teaches basic life saving skills for helping victims of all ages (including identifying and caring for bleeding, sudden illnesses, and injuries; as well as preventing disease transmission).
