
The Division of Kinesiology offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs to about 1300 students each year. The Bachelor of Science degree prepares individuals for careers in the areas of physical education all-level teacher certification, sport management, and in the exercise sciences, including exercise physiology and motor behavior. Students may also acquire a minor in dance. Programs are available for those preparing to attend health-related professional and graduate schools. Graduate programs are designed to equip future scholars, leaders, and educators for the challenges of the 21st century. Students may choose from a Master of Education (non-thesis) with an emphasis in Coaching/Teaching and Physical Education. The Master of Science offers both a thesis or non-thesis option in areas of Clinical Exercise Physiology, Exercise Physiology, Motor Behavior, Sport Management, Sport Pedagogy and Sports Physiology. Individuals seeking more advanced preparation may choose to pursue the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees. The Ed.D. is designed to prepare candidates for positions of leadership in the public schools or colleges and universities where the primary emphasis is on teaching, and in other business, industry, and military agencies. The Ph.D. provides state of the art training for research and teaching in the areas of Exercise Physiology, Motor Behavior and Sport Pedagogy.
