The Department of Health and Kinesiology has faculty and students currently housed in several buildings across campus. It also utilizes various facilities on and off campus for the Physical Education Activity Program. The following describes the facilities available for use by faculty and students in each of these buildings and locations:
Read Building
The Read Building, named for Tom and Joan Read, is located on Houston Street across the street from the Central Parking Garage. This building is built into the east side of the stands of historic Kyle Field. It is a four story structure with over 90,000 square feet of space. G. Rollie White Coliseum
Often referred to as the "The Holler House on the Brazos," G. Rollie White Coliseum was the long-time main building for the Department of HLKN. The Division of Sport Management moved from G. Rollie White to the H.C. Dulie Bell Building in the summer of 2008. HLKN faculty members now occupy the entire first floor as well as about 1/3 of the second floor of Dulie Bell. Netum Steed Laboratory
The Netum A. Steed Physiology Research and Conditioning Laboratory is a 23,736-square-foot facility houses one of the country's largest weight rooms and provides ample space for training athletes for collegiate competition. The weight room has 85 separate training stations, 45,000 pounds of free weights and an additional 10,000 pounds of dumbbells. Reed Arena
Reed Arena is a sports arena and located at the corner of Olsen Boulevard and Kimbrough Boulevard on west campus at Texas A&M University. The building replaced the G. Rollie White Coliseum for most sporting and campus events. Reed is the home to the Texas A&M men's and women's baskeball teams and the volleyball team, starting in 2009. The Physical Education Activity Program utilizes the Arctic Wolf Ice Center to provide beginning and intermediate ice skating classes. A&M is privileged to possess one of the premiere tennis facilities in the nation. PEAP tennis classes are taught on 18 newly resurfaced tennis courts that are adjacent to a 12 court facility used by athletics.
