The courses in health and kinesiology offer opportunities to obtain professional preparation for careers as health educators and physical education teachers in public and private schools, coaches, sport administrators, sport promoters, exercise technologists, fitness instructors and directors, recreational leaders, outdoor leadership educators, camp leaders and community health educators.

The Department of Health and Kinesiology's B.S. degree in Health has three options: Allied Health facilitates acquiring pre-requisites for some professional schools; Community Health prepares health educators for the community setting; and School Health leads to teacher certification. The B.S. degree in Kinesiology has an option that leads to teacher certification in Physical Education (Pre K-12) and three options that are in Exercise Science.   The B.S. degree in Sport Management has 2 options one that requires an internship and one that does not.  All students are assigned to an advisor in accordance with their career choice. Students are encouraged to declare career intentions early so appropriate course work may be planned.

Because the Department values activities that enhance educational experiences, students are required to participate in extracurriculuar activities.  Suggested activities include community volunteer hours, membership in professional organizations, such as Aggie Alliance, Sport Management Society, Aggie Applied Exercise Physiology and Eta Sigma Gamma, as well as other related state and national organizations.
